1 noun a set of clothes in a style typical of a particular country or historical period.
1 verb dress in a particular set of clothes. 

Defination of roleplay according to the Oxford Dictionary: 

1 chiefly Psychology the acting out of a particular role, either consciously (as a technique in psychotherapy or training) or unconsciously (in accordance with the perceived expectations of society). 
2 participation in a role-playing game.

 

Which means Cosplay is 

dress in a particular set of clothes + acting out of a particular role

Cosplay (コスプレ kosupure?), short for "costume roleplay",[1] is a type of performance art whose participants outfit themselves, with often-elaborate costumes and accessories, as a specific character or idea. Characters are usually sourced in various Japan, South Korea, China, and Philippines media, including manga, anime, tokusatsu, comic books, graphic novels, video games, hentai and fantasy movies.
